1993

Originally established under Geo Lodges, Nile Safari Lodge operated as a mid-range/budget facility, offering guests a unique experience in Uganda’s largest national park. It became the first accommodation available in Murchison Falls National Park.

1994

Geo Lodges positioned Nile Safari Lodge as one of Uganda’s first eco-lodges, blending comfort with nature to create a distinctive hospitality experience.

December 2017

Novam Ltd took over the existing camp to familiarize themselves with the hospitality industry and the lodge’s operations.

2018

New management takes over, initiating a comprehensive renovation project to elevate the lodge’s luxury and sustainability standards.

January 1, 2018

Ownership and management transitioned to NOVAM Ltd, a family-run company aimed to revamp the lodge to provide a unique and luxurious accommodation experience.

October 2018- 2019

Under the guidance of Localworks, the lodge underwent a full renovation focusing on eco-friendly architecture. The design featured grass-thatched roofs and open structures to maximise airflow and provide guests with immersive views of the surrounding wilderness.

2019

Nile Safari Lodge reopened with a fresh vision, showcasing redesigned bandas, a new infinity pool, and enhanced eco-conscious practices.

September 13, 2019

The transformed Nile Safari Lodgel officially reopened its doors, offering luxurious accommodations including Deluxe Bandas, an Exclusive Banda, and a Family Villa—all designed with sustainability in mind.

2020

Nile Safari Lodge solidified its reputation as a leading luxury eco-lodge in East Africa, welcoming guests worldwide to enjoy its unique blend of nature and refined hospitality.

2020–2021

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and an Ebola outbreak in Uganda, the lodge maintained operations, reinforcing its commitment to eco-friendly practices and the conservation of Uganda’s natural heritage.

2021

Recognized with Tripadvisor’s 2021 Travelers’ Choice Award, Nile Safari Lodge gained acclaim for world-class hospitality and exceptional guest experiences in the heart of the wild.

The lodge proudly hosted its first wedding, marking a new chapter in offering exclusive and memorable events.
