At the start of 2026, Uganda was firmly on the radar as one of Africa’s must-visit destinations. Interest from travellers was growing, itineraries were filling up, and
the country was preparing to welcome visitors eager to experience its extraordinary wildlife, landscapes, and warm hospitality.

Then came the recent Ebola outbreak.

Like many businesses across the tourism sector, we experienced cancellations and requests to reschedule journeys that had been planned months in advance. It was a reminder of how quickly perceptions can influence travel decisions.

Today, however, the story is changing.

With zero Ebola cases recorded over the last 10 days, Uganda has once again demonstrated the resilience, professionalism, and collaboration that define the country. Healthcare workers, government agencies, local communities, and the tourism industry have worked together to contain the outbreak and restore confidence.

At Nile Safari Lodge, we have continued to uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and responsible hospitality throughout. Our commitment has always been to provide guests with the best safari experience while in the Pearl of Africa.

Uganda has always been a country that meets challenges with optimism and emerges stronger because of it. We look forward to welcoming those who postponed their journeys and those discovering Destination Uganda for the very first time.
