Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
If you are completing your Big Five, Ziwa is the place to stop. The sanctuary sits on the Kampala–Gulu highway about 180 km from Kampala, roughly halfway to Murchison Falls.
Ziwa was established in 2005 with six southern white rhinos. By 2023 the sanctuary was home to 42. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it fits neatly into the drive to or from the lodge.
Rhino tracking is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and should not be missed. Other wildlife, such as giraffe and zebra, can be seen on request.
